Watch: Eminem sends Matthew Stafford message ahead of Lions-Rams
Eminem Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Eminem is trying everything he can ahead of his hometown team’s first playoff game in seven years.

The “Lose Yourself” rapper went viral this weekend for his message to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Veteran signal-caller Stafford, who was QB of the Detroit Lions for many years, will have a fitting matchup against the Lions in Sunday’s wild-card playoff game.

In a video that aired during Peacock’s NFL playoff coverage, Eminem addressed Stafford and asked him for a favor.

“Stafford, what’d I say?” said Eminem. “You owe me this favor, bro. I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford. Bro, I rapped for you. Can you just let us have this one? Just this one?”

Here is the full video.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, grew up in Detroit – as was portrayed in his film “8 Mile." He is referencing the fact that he was one of the halftime performers at SoFi Stadium during Super Bowl LVI in 2022, when Stafford and the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in to take home the Lombardi Trophy.

The Grammy-winning rapper is also a big-time football fan and once had a great viral moment with Al Michaels during an NFL game. While Stafford definitely will not be taking it easy against his former team on Sunday, it can’t hurt for Eminem to ask nicely.
