Video of an emotional Fred Warner reacting to 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw's injury emerges
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw are arguably the best linebacker duo in the NFL, serving as the heart of the San Francisco 49ers defense while sharing a strong bond. Therefore, it's no surprise that Warner felt deeply for his teammate and friend when Greenlaw suffered a torn Achilles in the second quarter of Super Bowl 58 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The following video captures Warner's raw emotional response after Greenlaw was carted off the field, revealing the profound anguish experienced by the star linebacker, even as teammate Nick Bosa attempted to console him.

After the game, tight end George Kittle shared his thoughts on Greenlaw's injury, saying, " That's depressing to get injured in the Super Bowl. ... Dre's the heartbeat of our defense, him and Fred in there, and how they feed off each other. ... We lose a guy like Dre, it's tough. He's just such a fantastic football player, and he's everything that the Niners stand for. So to lose him, it just really, really sucks for him."

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Warner provided insight into Greenlaw's mental state in the aftermath of the injury and Super Bowl defeat.

"Obviously, he's down, but he has a good mindset about it, and he's just eager to get the surgery done so he can get right into rehab and get back to work," Warner said. "I have no doubt in my mind he'll come back better than he was. He's made of the right stuff, and, yeah, he'll be back."

San Francisco lost the game 25-22 in overtime.
