Two Chiefs to be honored by Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2024
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

A pair of Kansas City Chiefs are set to be honored by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in the class of 2024. They'll be honored at the Hall of Fame’s Enshrinement Ceremony in Kansas City, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at Union Station.

Former Chiefs C Casey Wiegmann selected for Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

A former undrafted free agent out of the University of Iowa in 1996, Wiegmann played 16 seasons in the NFL. He took stops in Indianapolis, New York and Chicago before spending nine seasons anchoring the offensive line for the Kansas City Chiefs (2001 to 2007, and again in 2010 and 2011).

Wiegmann was an Iron Man during his NFL career, starting 175 out of 175 possible games, totaling a whopping 11,162 snaps. While his teams didn't quite see the success that the current Chiefs have in the postseason, he won the AFC West Division and finished 13-3 in 2003. His Chiefs team reached the playoffs again in 2006 (9-7) and won the division in 2010 (10-6). He earned one Pro Bowl honor during his career with the Denver Broncos in 2008.

Chiefs assistant RB coach Porter Ellett earns The Art Hains Inspiration Award

Andy Reid's left-hand man, Porter Ellett, is set to receive the Art Hains Inspiration Award. The award is named in honor of the Voice of the Missouri State University Bears and in-studio host of the Chiefs Radio Network, Art Hains.

Ellett just finished his first season as assistant RB coach in Kansas City and his seventh total season with the team. When he was just four years old, Ellett had an accident where he suffered a head injury and lost the use of his right arm. When Ellett was 16 years old, he had his arm amputated. He never let the disability slow him down and has been helping the Chiefs achieve the highest level of success on the offensive side of the ball to become a three-time Super Bowl champion.
