Report: Philadelphia Eagles Have A Trade Suitor For Haason Reddick; Make Aggressive Move To Get Deal Done
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly have one team that is very much interested in trading for defensive end Haason Reddick in the near future. The Eagles placed Reddick on the trade block in February when they gave him permission to seek a trade.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive line will be different in 2024

In recent weeks, the Eagles have seen and made a few significant changes to the defensive line. They shopped Josh Sweat before restructuring a deal to keep him in Philadelphia. Fletcher Cox retired.

It seems unlikely that the Eagles will persuade Reddick to take the pay cut they need to keep him this year.

The Atlanta Falcons are interested in Reddick

According to Cam Marino with NFL Draft Buzz, the Eagles made an aggressive move to negotiate a trade of Reddick in the near future. They delayed the due date for his $1 million roster bonus until April 1st, giving the Eagles more time to find a trade partner, and the Atlanta Falcons appear to be the best suitor:

“On his trade market: There’s a potential holdup from Reddick’s camp, who’s asking for an extension around $25M annually. Tennessee, Atlanta and Jacksonville have all checked in. Tennessee’s interest was mainly preliminary, and it’s safe to assume Jacksonville’s was, too, given that they still have to pay Josh Allen and just agreed to terms with Arik Armstead on a contract that pays him $17M a year for three years.

Team also believes in Travon Walker. Atlanta stands out, though they recently committed a ton of money to their QB. They were in the EDGE market early in free agency and didn’t come away with anybody. Definitely a team to watch.”

The Falcons need to be aggressive after signing Kirk Cousins

The Falcons can and should make the move if they can find the cap space. Pe Over The Cap, the Falcons have $3 million to play with after signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal worth $180 million last week. The Falcons added several pricey offensive weapons following Cousins signing, and the defense could use a boost.

The Falcons may as well go all out because of the Cousins contract. Their Super Bowl window is now, and Reddick is the type of acquisition you make if you want to go ring chasing.

However, there is one potentially cheaper option for a pass rusher for Atlanta. Dallas Turner could be on the board with the Falcons draft at No. 8 in April.
