NFL Draft bets: NFC West betting odds for each team's first pick

We wrap up our trip around the NFC divisions and their draft odds with the NFC West. We have no odds offered on what position the Arizona Cardinals draft first, as it is widely expected that Arizona takes star WR Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick.

That leaves three teams, all of whom have a position that is a heavy favorite at this juncture. Betting favorites is no fun in a market like this, let's see if we can't find us some value bets worth making. The first round of the draft is set for April 25.

Odds are courtesy of DraftKings.

Position of 1st Drafted Player: NFC West edition

San Francisco 49ers

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-125)
  • Defensive Line/EDGE (+400)
  • Cornerback (+450)

Meander over to any San Francisco 49ers blog or to some of the team's beat reporters, and there are two constant themes: the offensive line has to be addressed, and Brandon Aiyuk trade rumors.

On the latter, you could grab WR as San Francisco's first pick at +500, but at No. 31 in the draft, it may make more sense for the Niners to address a possible Aiyuk succession plan on Day Two. As much as we love plus-money, it does seem to be a near certainty that San Francisco addresses their offensive line immediately.

They were quiet on that front in free agency, and it was one of the problem areas that ultimately kept them from taking home a Super Bowl win, and Aiyuk is still on the team, meaning WR is less of a pressing need. If Aiyuk is moved prior to the draft, and you think that happens, grabbing wide receiver at +500 is a move to make. Otherwise, expect OL to be the pick here.

Our choice: Offensive lineman (-125)

Seattle Seahawks

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-150)
  • Defensive Line/EDGE (+140)
  • Quarterback (+1200)

The Seahawks appear to have some potential concerns with their two tackles, along with a hole along the interior of their offensive line. As such, we have yet another team in this division expected to address the OL early in this April's draft.

We'd like to look down the line a bit, and if hunting down value, what about quarterback? A popular scenario presented by many Seahawks writers appears to be trading down, as the Seahawks have only two picks inside the first three rounds.

Should they move down from No. 16 to recoup extra draft capital, it may allow them to take a swing on a QB like Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. that the staff believes could be the future.

We're hardly sold on Geno Smith being the guy here, and with him turning 34 this season, Seattle would be wise to plan for the future. Yes, they traded for Sam Howell this offseason, but again, Howell does not elicit much confidence on our end as a realistic franchise passer.

Seattle has been lauded for nailing the last few drafts, but they still have a hole at the most important position in sports. We'll take our chances that the draft unfolds in a way that has the Seahawks nabbing a young passer.

Our choice: Quarterback (+1200)

Los Angeles Rams

The favorites:

  • Defensive Line/EDGE (-200)
  • Cornerback (+450)
  • Offensive Lineman (+500)

This is an interesting draft for the Rams, who for so long have not had many picks at the top of the draft. This year, however, they have 11, including four in the first two days. With loaded pockets, it wouldn't at all be a surprise to see Los Angeles go aggressive and move up while they still have Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp.

The Rams won a playoff game this past season and may view their championship window still open. While the retirement of Aaron Donald is going to be felt (and is why D-line is the favorite here), we do think Los Angeles should remain a player in the NFC.

Left tackle seems to be both a short and long-term need for the Rams, and this draft is loaded with talent at that position. We don't hate a bet there, but we keep seeing murmurs about Los Angeles potentially trying to move up and snag Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.

The team will be without top tight end Tyler Higbee for most of the year after he tore his ACL in the postseason, and pairing an elite playmaker like Bowers with Puka Nacua and Kupp would make this an offense incredibly difficult to stop.

We like the idea, so we're rolling the dice with a trade up scenario that nets the Rams a stud.

Our choice: Tight End (+3000)
