New York Giants’ Kenny Golladay reacts to awful drop that led to benching
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The struggles for New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay continued yesterday in just his first start since returning from injury. Golladay had an easy drop on a perfectly thrown pass over the middle that would have moved the chains for the Giants’ offense. The terrible drop led to his benching.

New York Giants WR Kenny Golladay’s thoughts after immediate benching:

After the game, the sixth-year wide receiver spoke with reporters. He stated, “It’s definitely unacceptable, I take pride in catching the ball.”

When it came to his reaction on the benching right after the drop, Golladay stated, “It doesn’t really matter, I’m going to keep that comment to myself.”

On the continued struggles for the formerly successful player, Golladay said, “It’s tough, I’m going to keep pushing through, though.” “Me knowing the type of player I can be and what I want to put out there on the field, and what’s been going on this year, that’s the hard part.”

It was another day in which Daniel Jones was only able to throw for 197 yards. The Giants certainly could have used contributions from their highly-paid receiver. Luckily, Darius Slayton stepped up with a big play touchdown, and Isaiah Hodgins gave the Giants two catches on both of his targets as well.

Even with the win to improve to 7-2, it is frustrating to see the glaring problems with Golladay continue. For a player on such a big contract to have such a disastrous drop when the offense needs help is simply inexcusable. Head coach Brian Daboll wasted no time with the benching yesterday. Still, with a lack of wide receivers available, it will be interesting to see how things continue to progress in terms of reps for Golladay.
