Jarvis Landry seeking contract worth $20 million annually?

Jarvis Landry has yet to find a landing spot after being cut by the Cleveland Browns. Judging by his reported contract demands, we may have a clue why.

Landry has sought a deal worth roughly $20 million per year, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. That would actually represent a higher annual average salary than he was earning on his previous contract with Cleveland, which the Browns were unwilling to pay after acquiring Amari Cooper.

Landry probably saw Christian Kirk get $18 million per year from Jacksonville and conclude he was worth more, but the market simply will not work that way. Only the best of the best get figures close to $20 million annually, and Landry’s age (29) works against him here.

There have been some signals that Landry is not happy with how his free agency is going. Unless he loosens his demands, things might not improve for him.
