The Green Bay Packers made an addition to the running backs room on Monday, general manager Brian Gutekunst announced. The Packers signed NFL journeyman Nate McCrary as they continue training camp practices.

McCrary (6-0, 213), hailing from Saginaw Valley State, initially signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2021.

He then spent his rookie season on the Denver Broncos’ active roster and on the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad. McCrary was elevated to the Ravens’ active roster for one game where he recorded his first NFL carry. Baltimore released him to the free agents market following the 2022 training camp. The Panthers then picked him up for the practice squad.

So far, McCrary has spent this offseason and the early part of training camp with the Cleveland Browns.

With the Packers, the 6-foot-0 running back will wear No. 46.

Packers take Rashan Gary off of PUP list

The Green Bay Packers welcomed linebacker Rashan Gary back at practice on Monday. The team activated him off of the physically unable to perform list after he completed recovery for the ACL tear he suffered in November.

“He’ll be out there,” head coach Matt LaFleur said before Monday’s practice. “It’s going to be more or less, mostly individual (drills). Maybe some of the walk-through/jog-through, but he’s not going to be in any team.”

Gary has been a consistent contributor for the Packers since he was drafted 12th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Michigan.

Prior to the injury, Gary was coming off of the best season of his NFL career, where he put up 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits along with two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 16 regular season games. Since entering the league in 2019, he has 135 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks and 54 quarterback hits.

Before his injury versus the Lions, Gary totaled 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, and 12 quarterback hits on the season. He also added one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The Packers have a quick turnaround this week. They practiced on Monday before packing up to head to Cincinnati for this week’s joint practice with the Bengals. They’ll face Cincinnati on Friday for the preseason opener.

With Gary back, and receiver Grant DuBose as well, cornerback Eric Stokes is the only player still on PUP for Green Bay.
