Giants' Julian Love defends Daniel Jones showing 'passion' after dropped pass

Quarterback Daniel Jones went viral during this past Sunday's 23-17 win at the Jacksonville Jaguars when he reacted to wide receiver Marcus Johnson dropping a fourth-down pass near the goal line in the third quarter.

Giants safety Julian Love had Jones' back during a Tuesday appearance on New York sports radio station WFAN.

"I know DJ very well. We were in the same draft class. I consider him a good friend," Love told the "Tiki and Tierney" program about Jones, per Logan Mullen of Audacy. "I didn’t see it when he was barking at somebody during the game, people were telling me about it in the locker room, of course, everybody was talking about it."

Jones appeared to yell, "Catch the ball!" toward Johnson immediately after the drop.

"You can tell it means a lot to him," Love continued. "A guy who has been ridiculed all sorts of ways, to just be as confident, to be leading us the way he’s leading us, to have the game that he did this weekend for us, that’s exciting. To see him barking, it shows the passion that he has for the game. And yeah, he’s not letting anything fly, whether we have the lead or not."

Jones, currently on pace to set a single-season record for game-winning drives, apologized for his actions after Sunday's victory.

"Yeah. [It was the] heat of the moment, and I wish I could have that situation back," Jones explained, per the Giants' website. "I pride myself on being composed in those situations. Yeah, I wasn't there. I've got full faith and confidence in the world in Marcus, and yeah, [I'm] disappointed I let that happen."

The typically cool and calm Jones will guide the 6-1 Giants into Sunday's game at the 4-3 Seattle Seahawks that precedes New York's bye.
