Giants Insider Sets A Low Bar For Kenny Golladay
Danielle Parhizkaran/NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

The New York Giants had high hopes for wide receiver Kenny Golladay after giving him a four-year, $72 million contract during the 2021 offseason.

After all, he had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons for the Detroit Lions in 2018 and 2019.

Unfortunately, he did not live up to the hype during his first season in New York.

While he did play 14 games, he only had 76 receptions for 521 yards and zero touchdowns.

It’s a significant drop for the Northern Illinois alumnus after catching 11 touchdowns in 2019.

However, Golladay will have a chance to prove himself in the upcoming season.

That’s why ESPN NFL Nation reporter Jordan Raanan made a comical prediction about Golladay’s production in 2022.

Raanan tweeted, “Bold prediction: Kenny Golladay will score multiple touchdowns this season! #GiantsAfterDark.”

It shouldn’t be hard for Golladay to achieve that feat, given that he only needs two touchdowns to satisfy the term “multiple.”

Therefore, Raanan is making it easy for Golladay to do better than last season.

If everything goes well, he might collect multiple touchdowns in their season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

But he must get himself open, or Daniel Jones will look for Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard, or Wan’Dale Robinson.

Will Daboll’s Offense Positively Affect Golladay?

Former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll did wonders with the Buffalo Bills.

If he can translate that success to the Giants, Golladay might have a bounce-back season.

Reaching 1,000 receiving yards is possible because he has done it in the past.

Perhaps Daboll’s scheme will unlock his capabilities to gain more yards and touchdown catches.

Last season, the Giants finished 31st in points per game with 15.2.

Only the Jacksonville Jaguars were worse at 14.9.

They will need a spark from Golladay to elevate their production and hopefully get more victories.
