First-Team All-Pro De'Vondre Campbell left off top 10 ESPN linebackers list

50 of the NFL's executives, players, coaches, and scouts added a chip onto the shoulder of one of the premiere defenders in the NFL. An ESPN rankings list involving the top 10 linebackers heading into the 2022 season did not have the name De'Vondre Campbell on it. This might be one of the worst blunders in offseason rankings list history, if there is indeed such a thing. That might not be something that the 17 opposing offenses on Green Bay's schedule want to see.

For starters, Campbell was an All-Pro last season. To be specific, Campbell was a First-Team All-Pro. He had one of the best seasons in recent memory for an inside linebacker. He was the only defensive player in the league last season to record 140+ tackles, at least five passes defensed, at least five tackles for loss, at least five QB hits, at least five QB pressures, multiple forced fumbles, and multiple sacks. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher was an absolute menace in 2021. Campbell has recorded 90+ tackles in five of his six career seasons. He has recorded multiple sacks in four of those six seasons. He is one of the most complete and durable defensive players in the game. He has missed just five games in his career. Despite playing for three different teams in six years, he has managed to play 91 games out of a possible 96. No. 59 has started at middle linebacker in 86 of those 91 games. His 2021 season for the Packers was without a doubt the best of his career. It resulted in Green Bay offering the Florida native a fresh five-year contract worth $50M.

This is also proof that bigger markets matter. That has to be the only reason why this error was made with this list. Green Bay, Wisconsin is the smallest professional sports city in America. That has to be why. Campbell was arguably the best overall linebacker in the league last season. Regardless, this just adds another chip onto the shoulder of one of the more elite, yet underrated players in the entire NFL.
