ESPN analyst thinks Chiefs have best cornerback duo in the league
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Had the Kansas City Chiefs ended the Super Bowl earlier than overtime, there would have been a great chance that Trent McDuffie was going to win the Super Bowl MVP, as a lot of people think he was the best player on the field.

He had several pass breakups, including one that saved a touchdown. He basically ran Deebo Samuel's routes for him all game - he was that dominant.

Then you think about L'Jarius Sneed and some of the things he was able to do this season. He locked down so many top receivers in the league, like Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, and many others. The Chiefs have been one of the best pass defense teams all year long because of those two guys and others who have been huge, too.

One ESPN analyst, who is one of the most respected in the business, thinks the Chiefs are in a special position.

Trent McDuffie and L'Jarius Sneed are the best 1-2 combination of all around CB's in the league. They can do it all. Let's give some MAJOR props to Chiefs DB Coach David Merritt. No coach has developed their unit better than what Merrit has done with the Chiefs' secondary over the past 2 seasons. - Louis Riddick

Sneed is set to be a free agent this year. The Chiefs could pay him, or he could walk. Much of that depends on what they decide to do with Chris Jones. A to Z Sports' Free Agency Projections has Sneed ranked as the 18th best free agent this offseason, and I think his contract should be around four years, $64 million, $16 million APY, and $35 million fully guaranteed.

So, the Chiefs could be without him, and then they wouldn't have that 1-2 punch that Riddick is talking about. This just goes to show what the Chiefs have done in terms of scouting, drafting, and developing. They are one of the best in the business when it comes to that.
