Eagles’ AJ Brown Is Being Compared To Calvin Johnson
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown put forth another tremendous performance in Week 7, logging 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in a 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.

It was just the latest spectacular effort from Brown, who has elevated his game since joining the Eagles via trade from the Tennessee Titans in 2022.

According to NFL senior researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno, Brown has now tied former Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson for the most consecutive games with 125+ yards receiving (five) since the 1970 NFL merger.

In four of those five games, Brown has posted over 130 receiving yards. Sunday was his first double-digit reception contest of the season.

On the 2023 campaign overall, Brown has totaled 52 grabs for 809 yards and three touchdowns. He is currently fourth in the NFL in catches and second in receiving yards this season.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Mississippi, was originally selected by the Titans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He had a very impressive rookie year, catching 52 passes for 1,051 yards and eight scores. The following season, Brown made his first Pro Bowl after snaring 70 balls for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Brown then took a bit of a step back in 2021, finishing with under 1,000 yards in 13 games. That ensuing offseason, Tennessee dealt him to Philadelphia.

In his debut season with the Eagles, Brown hauled in 88 receptions for 1,496 yards while reaching the end zone 11 times en route to his second trip to the Pro Bowl.

AJ Brown is well on his way to another Pro Bowl selection and is on pace to have the best season of his career to date.

Philly improved to 6-1 with its win over the Dolphins and will take on the Washington Commanders next weekend.
