Raheem Mostert has not been shy about vocalizing his belief that the San Francisco 49ers held it against him when he opted for season-ending knee surgery last season.
Now with the Miami Dolphins, the 30-year-old Mostert recently shared with Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com that he felt the 49ers did not have his best interest at heart, which prompted him to sign a one-year deal with Miami during the offseason.
"They definitely did (hold my surgery against me),” Mostert told Dunne. "I moved on from the situation. … It’s up to the player to step up and say, ‘This isn’t right. I don’t think this is the best of my interest.’ … I knew exactly how I’d handle the situation. I knew exactly — coming off of rehab — what I needed to do in order to get back on the field.”

Mostert’s jabs at his former employers didn’t stop there, however. He took a veiled shot at 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, who was his teammate from 2017 to 2021, through a compliment to Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa which appeared to be disguised as a slam of Jimmy G.
“We have way better talent here,” Mostert said. “It’s going to get spooky. …We have a quarterback who can actually sling it.”
