Antonio Pierce Hiring Son, DeAndre Pierce, As Offensive Assistant

The Las Vegas Raiders are still in the process of filling out their coaching staff under head coach Antonio Pierce. Putting the right coaches in place will be imperative in getting the most out of this roster and making a playoff push next season.

The coaching staff as a whole must all be on the same page, pushing towards the same goals, and have a level of trust in each other. Often, there is nobody more trustworthy than family, and Pierce is going to be bringing someone very close in with him on the Raiders staff.

Pierce will be hiring his son, DeAndre Pierce, who was a quality control coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo last year, as an offensive assistant coach for the Raiders, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk:

Antonio Pierce is hiring someone he’s particularly close with for his Raiders coaching staff.

Per Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, DeAndre Pierce — Antonio Pierce’s son — will join the Raiders as an assistant offensive coach.

DeAndre Pierce was a defensive quality control coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2023.

Pierce bringing his son in on his staff is par for the course throughout the NFL. Many coaches have brought family who are already in the business of coaching on to their staffs with Bill Belichick doing so with the Patriots as well.

The important thing is that DeAndre Pierce is a capable coach who will help this Raiders team grow and only time will tell whether that is the case. With Luke Getsy in as offensive coordinator and a lot of talent on that side of the ball with Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Michael Mayer the pieces are there for this Raiders offense to shine.

The players will have to put in the work, but the coaches will need to put them in positions to succeed, and hopefully, Pierce will prove himself capable of doing just that.

Of course, the ultimate goal for the Raiders is to win a Super Bowl and hoist that Lombardi Trophy. That distinction once again went to the division rival Kansas City Chiefs this season, but maybe that wouldn’t have happened if not for Antonio Pierce and the Raiders giving them a wake-up call late in the season.

The Raiders gave the Chiefs their last loss of the season, a 20-14 victory on the road on Christmas Day and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid actually pointed to that as something the Chiefs needed.

Reid credited Pierce for having the Raiders ready to play that day and for the emotion that they played with. He added it was a much-needed wake-up call for his team and showed them that they needed to step up if they planned on making a run to the Super Bowl and it worked.
