49ers signing DE Leonard Floyd to 2-year, $20 million deal
Peter van den Berg-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reports that the San Francisco 49ers are signing defensive end Leonard Floyd to a two-year, $20 million deal with $12 million guaranteed in year one. The deal could end up being worth up to $24 million, per Rapoport.

The Chicago Bears drafted Floyd (6-6, 240) out of Georgia with the No. 9 overall pick in 2016. He registered 32 tackles, including nine for a loss, 19 quarterback hits, 10.5 sacks, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through 17 game appearances (16 starts) with the Buffalo Bills last season, per Pro Football Reference.

Floyd, 31, has recorded 370 tackles, including 63 for a loss, 122 quarterback hits, 58 sacks, two safeties, 14 passes defensed, two interceptions, a touchdown, and four forced fumbles in 121 game appearances (120 starts) over his eight NFL seasons with the Bears, Los Angeles Rams, and Bills.

The signing complements All-Pro pass rusher Nick Bosa on the other side of the defensive front. Floyd has recorded at least nine sacks in each of the past four seasons and was part of the Rams' Super Bowl LVI-winning team.
