The Guardians Have One Of The Hottest Hitters In MLB

Aaron Judge? Yeah, he's pretty good. Mookie Betts? He's a guaranteed All-Star this season. Fernando Tatis Jr.? He's still tearing it up too.

But what if I told you that one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball played for the Cleveland Guardians? No, this isn't clickbait either. That batter is Will Brennan and he's been red hot for some time now.

In the last seven days, Brennan is slashing .524/.565/.762 with an OPS of 1.327. That is the higher batting average of anyone in baseball during this time frame. Yes, even higher than Luis Arraez who had a five-hit game on Saturday night.

Brennan is now on a six-game hitting streak dating back to the series opener with the Baltimore Orioles when had a three-hit night. He's gone on to have four multi-hit games during the streak.

These hits have just been empty singles either. His slugging percentage is top-five in baseball behind Judge and Betts. He hit a home run and a pair of doubles to get that SLG up.

One of the highlights from this tear Brennan has been on came on Saturday night in Cleveland's 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. Sonny Gray took the mound for the Twins with an impressive streak going. He had yet to give up a home run all season.

That was until Brennan stepped in the box and smoked a two-run shot to give the Guardians the lead in the eighth inning.

Brennan has received sporadic playing time in right field this season. It's taken him a while to heat up but he's now showing the organization why he's so valuable. He's coming up with big hits against some of the league's best and leading the team to wins.
