Michigan's new coach Sherrone Moore can breathe a sigh of relief after Nate Marshall decided to commit to the University of Michigan. Marshall gives Moore his first commitment since being hired as head coach on Jan 26, 2024. With Marshall's announcement, Moore ends an 86-day ran of not being able to obtain a commitment to Michigan, something rival fanbases have pointed out daily.
Moore, who took over after Harbaugh headed to the NFL, has done a great job in hiring a new staff and maintaining the roster. But his staff has yet to show an ability to close on future players Marshall's commitment ends that narrative. Marshall's commitment now moves Michigan into the top 20 according to On3 Team Recruiting Ranking. Marshall becomes the fourth recruit to join Michigan’s 2025 class.

Marshall who was at Michigan Spring Game didn’t take long after to announce his commitment to Michigan, coming the Monday after. Lou Esposito Michigan DL coach must have made a great first impression for Marshall to commit so fast after.
Marshall the top-ranked player in Illinois heads to Ann Arbor from Oak Park Illinois where he played football at Fenwick High School. Marshall picks the Wolverines over several top programs like Ohio State, Miami, Notre Dame, and USC. According to On3 Marshall comes in ranked as the 40th player in the country and fourth best at defensive line. At 6-foot-5 and 265lbs Marshall has the size to play on the defensive line right when he arrives at Michigan.

Marshall's commitment should quite some of the critics about Moore and his staff's ability to bring in talent for the time being. Michigan fans are hoping that Marshall is just the first domino to fall, and this is just the start of a hot streak on the recruiting trail for the Wolverines.
